Hi, my name is Penny Haywood Calder. I'm head of the award-winning B2B PR agency, PHPR Ltd, based in Edinburgh, Scotland, UK. We are a small agency at the core, augmented by freelancers. We have clients all over the UK, especially around London, where our ability to handle both national & international PR at less than London prices strikes a chord with astute clients.
My PR career spans 3 decades. PHPR Ltd was founded in 1999 after several years as a freelance editor, personal finance writer and PR consultant working with public sector, PLCs and fast-growing companies. Before setting up in business, I was in-house at Bank of Scotland, where I launched the world's first bank (in 1985).
Apart from financial services & IT, we have been doing a lot in the CCTV/security sector, property-related (I hold a diploma in interior design) and also e-commerce support.
We are proud to have been selected for the recently formed international network of small but excellent PR firms: PR Boutiques International (http://www.prboutiques.com).
I am a full member of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (http://www.CIPR.co.uk) and a CIPR accredited practitioner.
My linked in profile is http://www.linkedin.com/in/phprltd
You can find more about our business at http://www.phpr.co.uk
I've recently started blogging about PR & related matters at http://www.fastcompany.com/user/penny-haywood.
I look forward to both learning from and helping members in this group.

Howdy all,

Doc Kane here from Chicago.  I run a professional writing services company out here in the Windy City. Glad to be a part of the community and look forward to helping out with any questions anyone might need an answer to. . .

I'm a fairly big user of LinkedIn, so if anyone could use an introduction or two, please don't hesitate to ask.

Warmest Regards,

Joseph King, and I am wrapping up my nine-year career as the director of media relations at PR Newswire (reorg/downsizing).  I reside in FL with my wife and five-year-old twins.  After graduating Rutgers University in 1990 I got my start in publishing as the assistant editor at a small health food industry trade magazine (along with a part-time sports writing job at the local newspaper).  After two years of drinking aloe vera juice and eating tofu bacon at health food trade shows, I moved onto be editor-in-chief/editorial director at a Northern NJ trade technology trade publisher.  Spent two years at Cordis Corporation (a J&J Co.) before landing at PR Newswire.  I look forward to meeting everyone and sharing lively conversation.

Celia Sollows APR, President of the Little Public Relations Company based in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

I'm really a one person business but I subcontract to designers, research companies writers and the like. I'm a generalist, but internal communications is my passion. I like the management side of public relations too -- trying to figure out how to resource and organize the public relations function in different organizations.

My background includes work for McCain Foods and lots of really cool work with utilities.  I also had an opportunity to teach internal communications for a few years, which was a real pleasure.

I'm glad public relations is steadily moving forward -- we're working in exciting times.  If I ever won a lottery, I'd do academic research full time.
